私は日本文学科を専攻しましたが、とにかく授業の時間数が多かったのは、「源氏物語」「平家物語」そしてこの「古事記」です。
I majored in Japanese literature, and the longest class I took was, The Tale of Genji, The Tale of Heike, and this Kojiki.
乞食じゃないですよ。古事記です。
“Kojiki” does not refer to “begging（乞食)”, it’s a “Record of Ancient Matters （古事記)”.
古事記は、日本最古の歴史書と言われています。
Kojiki is believed that it is the oldest history book in Japan.
日本の天皇は神様だったという前提で、天皇の先祖とされる八百万の神様の話です。
The assumption is that Japan’s emperors are gods, and their ancestors are many gods.
話に登場する神様は現在いろんな神社に祀られています。
The gods in the story are currently enshrined.
712年に書かれましたが、628年に亡くなった推古天皇までの話なので、もちろん日本がどのように始まったかは誰も知りません。
It was written in 712. The story is about the events that happened until 628 when Suiko emperor past away, so nobody knows how Japan started.
神様が海をかき混ぜて日本列島ができた、という話から始まりますから、初めの方はどちらかというとおとぎ話です。
Kojiki starts with how Japan’s Island were created when the gods stirred the ocean, so it’s more like a fairy tale.
というよりも、グロテスクな話や、性的な話がいっぱい。
Actually, there are many grotesque or sexual stories.
上、中、下、と３つの章がありますが、神々が創造した日本についての話から始まり、武力の時代の話、という流れです。
There are three chapters, “Jou （上)” , “Chu（中）” and “Ge（下）”. It started with how gods created Japan, and moves on to the war time.
この中に色々な有名な話が入っています。
There are various famous stories in Kojiki.
まず、天と地が二つに別れた時、天に世界の中心を司る天之御中主神が現れます。
First, when the heaven and earth were separated, a god named “Amenominakanushi” appears.
続いて、あと４柱の神様が生まれ、中心の５柱の神様となります。
Then, another four gods were born, then forming five main gods.
そして、また別の５柱の神が生まれたあと、イザナキとイザナミが生まれます。この７柱の神を神世七世と言います。
And after another five gods are born, gods named “Izanaki” and “Izanami” were born. These seven gods are called, “Gods Seven”.
アイドルグループのAKB48で人気投票７位までの女の子たちが、「神セブン」なんて言われていましたが、こちらが本当の「神セブン」です。
The top seven popular girls in AKB48, Japanese idol group, were called “Gods Seven”, though, these seven gods are the original “Gods Seven”.
中心の５柱の神が、神セブンで男の神のイザナキと女の神のイザナミに「矛で海をかき混ぜて国を作りなさい。」と言います。
The main five gods said, “Stir the ocean with a pike” to the god Izanaki and goddess Izanami.
そしてオノゴロ島という島ができました。そこで、イザナキが、「君の体はどうなっている？」と聞き、イザナミは「一箇所欠けてる部分がある。」と言い、イザナキが「僕の体には余分な部分が一箇所ある。」と言います。
Then, the island “Onogoro” was created. And Izanaki asked to Izanami, “How is your body?”, and Izanami replied, “A piece is missing”, and Izanaki said, “I have an extra piece that I don’t need”.
そしてイザナキが、「じゃあ、君の足りないところに僕の余分なところを入れて、国を作ろう。」と言います。
And Izanaki said, “Then, let’s insert my extra piece to your missing place, then, create a country.”
ご想像の通り、これは、性行為のことです。
As you can imagine, it’s about sexual intercourse.
女子大生の花子は思いました。「え？これ、保健体育の授業？」
A university student me thought, “Huh? Is it like the class of health and physical education?”
その後、神様ベイビーの島々が生まれますが、ぐにゃぐにゃな不完全な島だったので、５柱の神様が言います。
Later, gods baby islands were born, though those islands were not solid and imperfect, so five main gods say,
「女から誘ったからこうなったんだ。今度は男のイザナキから誘いなさい。」
“It happened because a woman Izanami flirted first. A man, Izanaki, must tempt first next time.”
。。。逆ナン禁止の男尊女卑思想？
Is it the belief of Male chauvinism that prohibits woman to pick up a man?
ナンパとは男子が女子に声をかけることで、逆ナンとは、女子から男子に声をかけることです。
”Nampa” is when men pick up women, and “Gyaku (reverse) Nan” is when women pick up men.
古代人は子孫繁栄につながる性行為を神聖は儀式だと考えていたので、こういう話ばかりです。
Old Japanese people believe sexual intercourse is the holy ceremony that prays for prosperous descendants.
当時、純粋な花子は、驚きの連続の古事記の話を学校で勉強していました。
An innocent me learned about the series of surprising Kojiki episodes in school.
これはまだ始まりの話です。古事記には有名なエピソードはたくさんあるので、また次回お話ししたいと思います。
This is only the beginning of the story. There are more famous episodes in Kojiki, so I would like to talk about those next time.
