今日きょうは、レッスン（１０）ですが、今いまのところどうですか？
It’s lesson 10 today, though, how are you doing so far?

Describing where things are　場所ばしょの言いい方かた

Let’s Review how to ask for the location of item X.

銀行（ぎんこう）　は　どこ　ですか.
Where is the Bank?

銀行（ぎんこう）　は、あそこ　です – The Bank is over there.
そこ です – The Bank is right there near you.
ここ  です-  The Bank is right here.

Then, let’s learn how to describe locations in more detail.

（銀行　は）あの　デパート　の　前　です。
It’s in front of that department store.

X　は　Y　の　（location words) 　です。

右（みぎ）to the right of Y
左（ひだり）to the left of Y
前（まえ）in front of Y
後ろ（うしろ）behind Y
中（なか）inside Y
Y と Z　の　間（あいだ）between Y and Z
上（うえ）on/ above Y
下（した）under/ beneath Y
近く（ちかく）near Y
となり　next to Y

銀行ぎんこう　は　図書館としょかん　の　となり　です。
The bank is next to the library.

傘かさ　は　テーブル　の　下した　です。
The umbrella is under the table.

レストラン　は　デパート　と　病院びょういん　の　間あいだ　です。
The restaurant is between the department store and the hospital.

 

Location で たべる（eat)・まつ(wait)
When indicatiing the location of a particular action, we use particle ”で”, not ”に”.

Ex.)

My school is in front of the Bank.
私の学校がっこうは　銀行　の前まえ　です。

There is a school in front of the bank.
銀行の　前まえに、学校があります。

I will wait for Jeniffer in front of the school.
私　は　　学校　の　前で　ジェニファーさん　を　待まちます。

We will have lunch at the restaurant.
私たちは、　レストランで　ランチ　を　食たべます。
