私事ですが、今働いている銀行はあと二週間で辞めて日本に引っ越します。
It’s my own personal matters, but in two weeks I will be quitting my banking job and moving to Japan.
だいたい、私はドジで細かいことを気にしない性格なので、銀行員は向いていないんですよ。
Generally, I can be a little clumsy and I’m not really one to worry about small details, so I don’t find the role of banker very fitting for me.
この間ロンドンに行った時は、イギリスの通貨はポンドって知っていたのに、なぜか外貨交換所で、”ユーロください”、と言ってユーロを持って行きました。
When I visited London recently, I knew that they use the pound there, but for some reason I still asked for euros at the currency exchange and brought that with me instead.
ロンドンのレストランでユーロを出したら、「ロンドンではユーロは使えませんよ。」と言われました。
When I took out my euros at a restaurant there, I was told “You can’t use euros in London.”
私、銀行員なのに！
Even though I’m a banker!
クレジットアナリストをして15年なのですが、私以外の同僚はだいたいいい大学のファイナンスメジャーの人ばっかりでした。
I have been a credit analyst for fifteen years, but almost all my coworkers had a finance degree from excellent universities except for me.
私は普通の大学の日本文学専攻です。
I just have a BA in Japanese literature from an average university.

今の銀行ではたくさんビジネス日本語を勉強し、ヤクザ上司にもたくさん注意され、働いて良かったと思います。

To form そうです
(1) い-adjective
Drop the final い, and add そうです.
Ex.) おいしい → おいしそうです
Looks delicious
(2) な-adjective
Simply add そうです.
Ex.) 元気 → 元気そうです
Looks energetic/well/lively
(3) Exceptions
いい → よさそうです
Looks good.
(4) Negative
Drop ない, add なさそう.
Ex.) おいしい → おいしくない→ おいしくなさそう
元気 → 元気じゃない→ 元気じゃなさそう
いい → よくない → よくなさそう
(5) Adjective + そうな + Noun
This そうform of adjectives can function as a な-adjective with other words.
Ex.) 暖かい (warm)
暖か＋そうな＋セーター
暖かそうなセーター
Warm-looking sweater

マイケルさんは、人材派遣会社のデューダに履歴書を出して、今日オフィスに行きます。
Michael has submitted his resume to the HR company, Doda, and is visiting their office today.

ひろみ（妻）：マイケル、今日は元気じゃなさそうだね。
Hiromi (wife): Michael, you don’t look very lively today.
マイケル： 僕が”小心者”だって、知ってるだろう？
Michael: You know I’m a chicken, don’t you?
ひろみ：あはは！何を言ってるのよ！今日は仕事の面接じゃなくて人材派遣の面接よ。そんなに緊張する必要ないでしょう！
Hiromi: Ahaha! What are you saying! Today is your interview with HR, not your job interview. You don’t need to be so nervous!
マイケル：まあね。。。
Michael: I guess…
（オフィスがあるビルに到着）
(Michael arrives at the building where the office is located.)
マイケル：ここがデューダのオフィスか。結構高そうなビルだな。
Michael: Here is the office for Doda. It looks like an expensive building.
（オフィルビルの受付で）

マイケル：すみません、本日、１４階のデューダで１時にアポイントがあるマイケルと申しますが。
Michael: Excuse me, I’m Michael. I have an appointment with Doda on 14th floor at 1:00 today.
受付係：お会いする方は、どなたですか？
Receptionist: Who is it you are seeing?
マイケル：相田さんです。
Michael: Mr. Aida. (In Japanese, さん has no indication of gender.)
受付係：少々お待ちください。相田さんにご連絡いたします。
Receptionist: Please wait a moment. I will contact Mr. Aida.
マイケル：はい。
Michael: Sure.
受付係：「相田さんでいらっしゃいますでしょうか。受付にマイケル様という方がいらっしゃっていますが、お通ししてよろしいでしょうか？。。。はい、かしこまりました。」
Receptionist: “This is Mr. Aida? A Michael is here at reception, can I send him upstairs? … Yes, certainly”.
マイケル様、こちらにどうぞ。（エレベーターの１４階を押す）。
Michal, please come this way. (She presses 14th floor in the elevator.)
マイケル：ありがとうございます。
Michael: Thank you.
（１４階 デューダの受付で）
(14th floor, at Doda reception)
マイケル：すみません、私、マイケルと申しまして、相田さんと面談のアポイントをさせていただいているのですが。
Michael: Excuse me, I’m Michael. I have an appointment with Mr. Aida.
受付係：かしこまりました。今、相田を呼びますので、少々お待ちください。
Receptionist: Certainly. Please wait a moment while I call Mr. Aida.
マイケル：はい、ありがとうございます。
Michael: Sure. Thank you.
相田：あっ、マイケルさん、初めまして。私、担当の相田と申します。
Mr. Aida: Ah, Michael-san, nice to meet you. My name is Aida, I will be in charge of your job hunting here.
マイケル：初めまして、相田さん。本日はお時間を頂き、ありがとうございます。
Michael: Nice to meet you, Mr. Aida. Thank you for your time today,
相田：こちらこそ。それではこちらにどうぞ。
Mr. Aida: Likewise. Please come this way then.
マイケル（心の中で）：「相田さんは優しそうだな。ホッとした。。。」
