My Spanish brother in law, Daniel’s dad and mom
みなさん、ご存知かわかりませんが、私の妹は、スペイン人のダニエルと結婚して、子供が3人います。
I don’t know if you already know but my sister is married to a Spanish man called Daniel, they have 3 kids.
妹家族は、日本に住んでいます。
They live in Japan.
ダニエルに日本語を教えて、ユーチューブを始めました。
I started youtube because I started teaching Japanese to Daniel.
ダニエルのパパとママに、ユーチューブでダニエルがどれだけ日本語が上達したか、見せたかったんです。
I wanted to show to Daniel’s dad and mom how Daniel had improved his Japanese.
でも、ダニエルが、「もうユーチューブには出たくない。」と言ったので、私一人になりました。
However, Daniel said, “I can’t be on youtube anymore.”, so I became alone.
ダニエルのパパとママは、今初めて日本に遊びに来ています。
Daniel’s dad and mom are visiting Japan now for the first time.
桜見をしたり、東京のパスツアーに行ったりして、とても楽しそうです。
They go to see cherry blossoms or go on a Tokyo bus tour. They seem to be having fun.
ダニエルのパパとママはスペイン語しか話せないので、私とも言葉が通じないのですが、スペイン語でずっと私に話します。
Daniel’s dad and mom speak only Spanish, so I can’t communicate with them, though, they keep talking in Spanish to me.
私は何を行っているかわからないけど、ただ、うなずきます。
I don’t understand them, though I just nod.
日本でもそうしているようです。
It seems like they do the same thing in Japan.
日本のおばあちゃんもそういう人が多いです。
There are similar Japanese seniors.
若い人は、言葉が通じなければ、話すのをやめます。
Young people stop talking when they can’t communicate.
日本に行ったら、おばあちゃんと仲良くなった方が日本語の勉強になりますよ！
If you go to Japan, you would improve your Japanese if you become friends with seniors.

Verb Stem + やすい ＝ easy to do
Verb Stem + にくい ＝ hard to do
やすい、にくい、 are い – adjectives, so the past tense are やすかった、にくかった
＜Verb Stem + やすい ＝ easy to do＞
Past tense 〜やすかった。
This book is easy to read.
この本は、読みやすいです。
This book was easy to read
この本は、読みやすかったです。
＜Verb Stem + にくい ＝ hard to do＞
Past tense 〜にくかった。
This book is hard to read.
この本は、読みにくいです。
This book was hard to read.
この本は、読みにくかったです。

（１）かわいい日本人女子の会話 (Converstion of cute Japanese girls)
このお肉、脂肪が少なくて、食べやす〜い！
This meat has low fat and easy to eat!
* お肉 means “meat”. Japanese people usually don;t clarify if it’s beef, pork or chicken.
この靴、かわいい上に、歩きやす〜い！
This shoes are cute and on the top of that, they are easy to walk in!
たけし君、面白くて、話しやす〜い！
Takeshi kun, you are funny and it’s easy for me to talk with you!
（２）好きな人にアプローチできない日本人男子の言い訳 (The excuse of Japanese guy who can’t talk to love interest)
会社では、彼女に話しかけにくいんだよ。
It’s hard to talk to her at office.
彼女は美人だから、話しかけにくいんだよ。
Since she is beautiful, it’s hard for me to talk to her.
多分彼女には彼氏がいると思って、話しかけにくいんだよ。
I think she already has a boyfriend, so it’s hard to talk to her.
A (ている）間にB – B takes place, while A
* Most often, A is described with the continuous ている.
食べている間に、本を読む。
I read the book while I am eating.
Verb A is in the present tense, even when the clause A describes a situation in the past.
お風呂に入っている間に、電話がありました。
There was a phone call while I was taking a bath.
Takeshi took her away while I was wondering if I should talk to her or not,
彼女に話しかけるか悩んでいる間に、たけし君に彼女を取られました。
* The “A” above can be a noun as well.
Noun の 間に B takes place.
留守の間に、友だちが来ました。
A friend came while I was out.
* If B extends throughout the time when A occurs, we remove に。
I sat looking at smartphone while she was shopping.
彼女がお買い物をしている間、僕は座ってスマホを見ていた。
